"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

The Omni was originally a group of religious scientists who decided to create a utopia for everyone. They found the existence of other worlds, other species, and then other dimensions, and started integrating these places into one society linked by jump gates. The space in the universe began filling up as they added more and more worlds.
The Omniverse became unstable but the Omni would not stop their quest. New universes were added, but instead of simply moving the space, they moved the people and converted whole universes into cosmic buffer space. Anything that was still within that universe when it was "eclipsed" was destroyed. The Omni of course kept that a secret and the corruption in the government grew.
